"This spring, nearly a year and a half since the [Wii's] debut, Nintendo will release Mario Kart Wii, the first motion-sensing rendition of the racer. In anticipation of Game Developers Conference this week, the company invited us to Nintendo's Redwood City office to check out the game in action and see just what's in store for Wii owners that are itching to zoom around with Mario and crew."

This is a fantastic hands-on.
It confirms Mii characters as racers. It also talks about how boosting has been changed, which could eliminate the annoyance of snaking (powerboosts are controlled differently) and some new items (a POW block for instance). 4 control schemes exist (much like Brawl).
Online multiplayer allows 2 players on one system to go online...so split screen online.
Great hands-on overall :)
