Red Faction: Guerrilla (official title).

The third game in the series returns us to Mars 50 years after the events of the original game, with a terra-formed red planet ready to be taken apart piece by piece by the player. The focus on destruction returns, along with an all-new third-person perspective that seems like an odd choice to me, but Volition President Mike Kulas seems confident enough.

"With a new 3rd person perspective, a full cover system that allows for guerrilla style tactics and a diverse planet to explore we're excited to revitalize the gripping world of Red Faction for high-definition platforms."

Red Faction: Guerrilla is due out sometime in 2009

Red Faction is a modern sequel to the innovative series that debuted on PS2 and was later continued on PS2, XB1, & PC. RF 3 should include improved graphics, greater weapons, and a more full featured multiplayer mode. The series is known for pioneering destructable environments that can be destroyed through the use of weapons, and with the power of XB360 it will be able to take this game mechanic to heights never reached before.

Red Faction: Guerilla Hands-on Preview

Teamxbox - April 4, 2008

If you've been knocking about the world of video games long enough, then you probably remember a shooter from around the turn of this last century called Red Faction. Set on a near future Mars, Red Faction attempted to bring something new to the FPS genre by creating a very robust destruction engine that let you poke holes in walls and other opportune places for getting through levels.

Analyst Cautious As Preorders Lag

Gamasutra - May 22, 2009

"We have some concerns about the prospects for Red Faction: Guerrilla, which at just 10 days from release is not performing particularly well on online retail best seller charts," says says Creutz, who predicts the game will sell 670,000 in its first year. PH Note. That would be 670K across BOTH platforms.

Eurogamer Review 7/10

Eurogamer.net - June 5, 2009

Submitted by NightWolf (355) at 3:25PM PST on June 5, 2009

"Taken as a whole, the net result is a generous game that remains fun despite its frustrations, yet never quite achieves its full potential. Red Faction is the very definition of a solid 7/10 - a game that should have been better, but offers more than enough to warrant a purchase during the quiet months."
