I'm a big fan of the idea of LBP and got in on the stock at 54 DKP.. but I wonder if the price is a bit excessive at this point. Even if we're extremely generous and chalk up another 3.5 million in sales for Sony from now to the end of the year worldwide, that still would only put the system around 7.6 million or so units sold.
With the game set to release in early 2008, are we really expecting somewhere in the neighborhood of a 1/3rd attach rate for a niche title from a completely unknown developer? Although I expect the title to be solid, Heavenly Sword's reviews are trickling in and they're not exactly great -- the boring demo has likely caused irrepairable damage to the game's image as well.
I realize the price is supposed to determine lifetime sales, but the pricing on this literally is at best going to be met in 2009 -- and we still don't even know if it will be sold in stores or simply on the PSN where sales figures are complete estimates. I've ridden it out for 200+ points, but at this point it's a clear short to me.
