@sagexsdx, I have a lot of doubt about the claims highlighted in this article.
First off, Sony needs to start making a little bit of money on the PS3 and launching a redesign so soon would not make sense in this regard (unless they would be saving money by making it slimmer, which I don't think would be the case). Secondly, Sony would be smart to keep the slim version until further in the lifetime of the PS3 when it can be used more effectively to boost sales. Also, Sony is usually pretty good in releasing redesigns at appropriate times and this autumn probably would not be the best. Lastly, at this time, price cuts and especially software are more important than redesigns for the PS3.
