Sony has warned investors that its large-scale investment on the PS3 may not be fully recovered if the console does not achieve favourable market penetration. That says to me they are treading a fine line between a price cut and slower growth.
The investors may not have the appetite for another price cut if the standard cost of the product is still widely off the mark of the sales price. I think that if a price cut is to come it certainly will not be led by Sony but rather Microsoft which would probably mean any discounting will be just prior to the Christmas push.
You can bet your bottom dollar they will not be introducing anything quite so revolutionary in the PS4.
