Sony's fiscal 2008 annual report delineated potential risk factors to its investors, outlining that "the large-scale investment required during the development and introductory period of a new gaming platform may not be fully recovered." The loss figures were provided as an example of the "significant negative impact" introducing a new platform can cause at first.

That says to me they are treading a fine line between a price cut and slower growth.
The investors may not have the appetite for another price cut if the standard cost of the product is still widely off the mark of the sales price. I think that if a price cut is to come it certainly will not be led by Sony but rather Microsoft which would probably mean any discounting will be just prior to the Christmas push.
You can bet your bottom dollar they will not be introducing anything quite so revolutionary in the PS4.[ Oracle ] [ Level 30 ] [ Rank: 60 ]bids

That I am not certain off. If they cut prices, they make it in November, but I guess we will not see it this year. But a "Value Pack" meaning 2-3 games as pack in to the console for the christmas season.
My guess is the next "real" price cut in the US will be march next year.

Its the market that decides these things, not the hardware maker.
Sony was selling at a loss out the gate, but that didnt stop them from faking like they were going to drop the price (discontinuing SKUs and adding value), and then ACTUALLY dropping the price the first time.
Those who arent the market leader always drop first and more often. What makes you think that under these circumstances, they dropped once but will not drop again?
