The problem the PS3 has is that it is countered by both the 360 and the Wii.
Yes it has a good line up but so do the competition. Its price point will always be higher and the competitions will always be lower. The worst news for Sony right now is just how many 360 sales are happening in Europe and this is the real battle ground for Sony and they are losing it badly.
Could they make a price cut right now after suffering such huge losses and the Yen working against them I doubt it, then again if it did could it cut enough to make it really matter. What happens if Wii receives a price cut this year and Microsoft counter with another.
I think at the beginning of the year Sony had it all to play for and they were succeeding but Microsoft came in with OS upgrade (NXE), Price cut and huge marketing campaign over the Christmas period. Nothing Sony has done to date has suggested they have anything like that up their sleeves.
All that aside it is still promising that the PS3 sells as well as it does and I think if the economic climate was any different and people had more money to spend it would of been such a different story.
