@apujanata, Possibly, though I think Activision is the one behind it and its all about money. Given their recent moves that generally reflect greed and arrogance as the #1 publisher in the world, acting like the old EA but worse.
If it was suggested by IWard the reason I see them doing such a thing is to differentiate themselves from Treyarch and a series that was being created by 2 different studios under the same name. Still, did they really want to abandon the name/series they worked so hard to create. Maybe they see that it is worth it, but I still see ATV responsible.
