This game still seems to be overvalued by at least 20DKP. As pointed out here and in the below post, this title seems a bit too eccentric to sell over 500,000 copies. I am not sure if this is riding on some type of hype (I doubt so) or whether people are taking the post (in various game forums) of people who think that this looks pretty sweet (not saying that they would pick it up), but either way, this game will end up like most titles that try something new, especially that this is being released on the Wii, a console that does not cater to the type of players who would pick this up.
Also, there is a fair chance that this will end up being review badly, that it turned out to be very artistic and had some cool game mechanics, but ultimately it does not hold up beyond the first hour of play and the fundamentals (such as camera and a balanced/deep battle system) are missing. If this happens I see a likely chance that this title will drop even further to around 25DKP.
Hence, this title should be in the 25-50DKP range.
While I agree with some of your points, I pointed to Psychonauts and Beyond Good & Evil of games that even though they were less eccentric than No More Heroes will be, they still did badly at retail. Originality and the first to be in a particular genre for a console do not guarantee retail success. Because of this, even though I think that this game will be one of the few really original games for the Wii when it is released, I think this will actually hurt it as only 'hardcore' gamers will pick it up. Due to this (and reasons stated here) a price of 50DKP or less seems like a more accurate price.
Ugh, that teachs me for picking up a decent stake in a stock, way before the game is released. I suppose I should try to justify why I think the game this game will have decent sales.
While I think it would be great if NMH(No More Heroes) got the same critical accaim, as Psychonauts and Beyond Good & Evil, I personally never really factored it into what I thought the sales figures would be. I think that the comparison between NMH and these games, are slightly dubious. Firstly, there is the difference in genres, that being "Sandbox" style games tend to appeal more to casual gamers. Also, just based on a quick glance at their wikipedia articles, it seems that these games were not released in Japan.
In the end, I see NMH selling well because it is an original exclusive wii game, which won't be facing much competition within its genre when its released. While NMH seems to be shaping up to be somewhat eccentric, I don't see this hurting sales too much, as interest in this game seems to transcend its abnormality.
This stock has been quiet for awhile, does anyone have Killer 7 numbers? I think this game might be overvalued at the moment since this will tend less toward the casual and more toward the traditional gamer. I think this will score highly with critics but end up not selling as well as the hype would lead some to believe (much like Psychonauts sales or Beyond Good & Evil). Psychonauts "sales were awful, coming in at under 100,000"(CNN). Due to this a price of 50DKP or less seems like a more accurate price from the given information.
The development of this game is at full steam and the official website has been trickling out new information about the game for the past two weeks (as it only launched about two weeks ago). There is a good possibility that this game will get launched in time for the all-important Christmas holiday in one or more regions. (Much of the information available on the official site is also being added to the english Wikipedia for those that aren't fluent in Japanese.)
I'd like to see this game become a hit, but Suda51's last title Killer7 flopped horrendously in the American market. I'm not sure what his Japanese sales figures were like.
This title seems to be getting more press, but its still quite possibly nothing more than a hi quality, hi concept flop, at least stateside.
This stock continues to see strong support, I believe we will see an upward trend with this stock over the next short while at the least, most likely it will continue to rise for some time now.
The game appears to be a GTA for the Wii with an Anime style to it and sword sighting. I imagine it will outsell 500k, especially with the number of Wii's out there. I consider this stock a strong buy.
I hope this game sells more than 500,000 copies. Not because I got 4250 things of stock, but because we need more badass exclusives like this. Come on be a hidden hit, this game has alot of potetional come on come on!
