I must admit I never really saw what all the fuss was about uncharted looking beautiful, maybe looking at it through my work graphics attitude i was overly critical, however with the new halloween trailer (added it to vids) it I saw it / found it quite moving. It managed to get the emotion in and the different environments popped more. Suddenly the whole reinventing of the adventure genre makes sense to me. I agree with you that it's a new IP so it may not do great, particulalry with the ps3 still starting up, but as a game it may be a landmark and it may even sell quite good (i've read some rumours of some bundles). Either way, as a gamer looking forward to experiencing it.
I disagree. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is a new IP and we expect it to sell better than other more established franchises on the PS3 have sold. Even with the promise of a great game, I don't think this game has the blockbuster ability to sell 1.5 million copies. If this was being released next year I would say maybe, but with the current PS3 install base, I see this reaching 1 million tops. This should be at 100DKP or less.
I was under the same impression and I don't see Uncharted: Drake's Fortune getting the same amount of hype has either of those games (and Resistance doesn't count, it was the only good launch title, so it was bound to sell well).
@kspraydad, I was under the impression most of Motorstorm's sales came from being packaged with the 80gb PS3 overseas? I thought Resistance was also a pack in, but I wasn't sure. Even if I'm wrong, 2 for 65 or so isn't a very good track record for PS3 games. Until proven otherwise, PS3 games should have failure (Heavenly Sword, Lair) priced in, I think.
@Gaara42, I think it's much too high for a number of reasons, chief among them being that I don't think it's possible for 1 million PS3 owners to buy the same new IP.
The reason I invested more in this rather than ratchett despite the proven reviews is because if this games prooves to get decent reviews I think it's got a bigger audience: I believe the time for more kid-oriented in theme games has kinda passed: i think more and more people, maybe the gamers getting older, or new audiences, want more adult stories. I myself could never really get depp into any ratchett game, while a game with a more mature character... I think i was seeing a video (or wikipedia?) explaining the big hit that the Playstation 1 was on the fact the unlinke nintendo it headed more for the mature audience. I think a high demand for a mature audience is more important than ever. By mature I don't mean violent or sexual or anything like that, simply more "grown-up" characters, dealing with life/moral choices, difficult decisions, love, tragedy...
Does anyone else think that the current price is much to high for an unproven IP? We are predicting this to sell more than Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, which seems unrealistic. I think a price of 100DKP seems more realistic.
