@rikitikitik, this is an interesting find. Have you found Canada NPD to basically telegraph the US NPD results each month? In that case we should be getting those results publicized here. Do they also release Top 10 software SKUs with units?
@Alpha, Canada is a much smaller video game market after all and they get proportionate stocks as a result. What we do not know is if this drop in sales will also be reflected on the US NPD, i.e., whether stocks are also low or that consumers are also holding off for the newer PSP version.
Canada is also much better gauge of US hardware numbers than Japan, given the little variations of the correlations between the US and the Canadian NPD figures for the past several months.
@rikitikitik, that is interesting, though at 18k and 5k levels, these are very small sales numbers and not that large of a difference in actual sales numbers. PSP appears to continue go strong in Japan according to Joe80's Mediacreate numbers.
@Alpha, Canadian NPD July hardware numbers probably. The PSP dropped from around 18k last June to 5k for July. Link
Given the historical 7-10% correspondence if Canada and US NPD figures every month, 5k is a bit worrisome. Although 50k PSP sold for July is impossible, that's still a very large fall.
Other posts in that link attributed the large drop in sales to low stocks due to the upcoming new PSP version.
See there you go again making stuff up again.... in your mind, the debate is about some conspiracy where I say there is *merely favoritism*. Let's not confuse your being in need of "supplemental intelligence in order to operate fully" with my so-called paranoia.
Or, mislead others by making it sound like I called other users tools as a matter of course. Of course, this being the first time I've decided to give my friends on TSE a name.
I never argued that any of my recent posts have been anything but rant-a-licious, but of course, when top users have nothing useful to say, its guaranteed to receive bids as a matter of course. Why not join the party with my own biased and useless information?
If you don't think its noticeable- you are wrong! I've seen several people shouted down by (gasp) top users for having the balls to say something about it in my relatively short time here.
I just want you to know that I, as well, do not appreciate your sarcasm. What makes yours positive above all others? I fully expect to be downbid for mine when I troll. But definately not for equally valid opinions on public awareness, relations or retail buzz. But you on the other side of the debate would rather dream up anything you can in order to invalidate opinions.
Do you also have a complex LAOlfar? You're still going on about an easy to make typo. In short, I think you are in fact a tool- and I derive so much pleasure from such a simple typo that maybe I let one or two slide by from time to time. Has it occurred to you that yours is the only handle I tend to mistype?
While we're on the topic of "hundreds of thousands a day", it's not hard when you've amassed such a fortune. Truth is, from what I can tell, I was able to outperform many on TSE daily while I was active, including top users with double digit DKP in the bank. So really, hundreds of thousands a day on 10 million dollars isn't really that impressive to me.
Bid on comments to make money? That's the stupidest plan I've ever heard, and you fabricated it from my post completely, thus reinforcing my point.
Wow, talk about paranoia. As one of the "top users" I can tell you that I've never bid on comments based on the pointless ranking number beside a comment. What have some of your "valid comments" been lately? Two sarcastic posts whining about people disagreeing with you, a valid post on the 360 and an attempt at making a joke about "noobs". Shocking that those didn't receive 5 upbids each.
Oh and if you want users to give a **** about what you say, you can at least type the username properly. Spelling isn't that hard and you can always cut/paste. It's just plain rude.
Oh and when you receive downbids for your comment, maybe think about how you're calling other users "tools" and claiming there's a conspiracy here among users that makes hundreds of thousands of DKP per day...to make a few hundred of DKP on bidding.
I've taken to randomly ranting (on topic) on this site, because its pretty clear that the top users on this site downbid valid comments, and upbid those amongst their bretheren. Users on this site, give no incentive to provide insightful opinions.
Sure you'll deny this, and bids are all part of the community right? (community in your opinion being the top 20-30 users of course).
beyond that there is only one side to any rational debate on this site...the top users. each discussion seems to quickly devolve into one where top users misconstrue the debate and warp it to their own ends until the debate is unrecognizable and unpopular opinions are warped to be irrational. Hell you guys are so full of yourselves you only do it to each other.
It takes a literary master to dissect some of your worst debates.
Pilias where is your evidence that consumers don't read the newspaper, which has sections on consumer electronics? Where is YOUR evidence Pilias on what the average person knows. What is you evidence on so-called average users google usage? What makes your hearsay any better than mine? You sir, are one analyst that is full of your own opinion.
And then there's...Loaldar- rather than saying something intelligent, he/she chose to dwell on my use of the word "CRAP". Which of course makes *me* immature and my opinion inappropriate. It even got an upbid or two! Is that all I have to say? That, you tools are immature and inappropriate?
So now that we have that straight, I'm ranting from now on. What are you gonna do about it? Have me banned? Go for it, you'd only prove my point.

Based on past NPD numbers I do not see a direct correlation between Canadian Numbers and the NPD numbers that are released.
They seem to be on track except in cases like this, when market conditions that are unique to Canada effect sales.
Basically, Canadian Numbers do not always reflect NPD numbers.
Since the lower PSP sales were related to supply issues in Canada that does not mean that NPD numbers will be lower.
