When SCEA started taking applications for a free God of War: Chains of Olympus demo disc on its website in late April, it neglected to mention when those UMDs would actually reach gamers. Thanks to an e-mail sent out last night by the PlayStation Underground, we do.
The 'quick gain' investors are out of this stock now from IPO and it is back to almost issue price. 80dkp was based on an install base of 21million PSP and Sony is on track to be at 30 million PSP by Mar 2008. Based on strength of franchise, early video evidence/reviews and growing PSP user base this game should easily be a million seller (and that isn't a common thing with the PSP). For a long term hold your looking at 20% upside right now.
I have been a solid DS lite owner/lover since it's release, and i also share a great amorosity for the GoW franchise. After seeing those videos, if it can deliver the same gameplay feel, etc as the ps2 version i expect this stock to take at least two rides, one upon its release, and then another after the psp refresh and the channel is flooded with both 1. cheap psp1's and cooler new psp2's that may appeal to someone like me who'd love to have this game in handheld form. Then there's always the greatest hit's collection. I'd be very surprised if this didn't become the PSP killer-app.
"From what I saw of Chains of Olympus (they weren't letting us play it), the game has the same look and feel of the PS2 games, which is, I would guess, exactly what most of us want."
Gamespot report on a guided demonstration of the new God of War prequel for PSP at Sony's recent event. They heap a ton of praise on the developers for the quality of the visuals and the gameplay overall holding up to the standard set by the full console versions. "Based on the tiny bit we saw, God of War: Chains of Olympus looks to easily be one of the most anticipated PSP releases this year"
There are two videos posted to GameVideos TODAY from SONY Gamer's Day that shows GOW:CofO actually running on a PSP ... for anyone interested in GOWCofO investing OR PSP investing this is a must see video showing how good the graphics can really be on that system.
The graphical power and the ability to tell a story of depth and scope will really be on display for the PSP with this title. Ready at Dawn has the Daxter game under their belts which has blown most PSP owners away in terms of its quality and expectations are extremely high for this game. This game will sell PSPs.
Sony is projecting an installed PSP base of 30 million by Mar 2008 so I think a million sold for this title is not out of the question.
Just my .02 (I listed the game at 80dkp assuming a 21 million install base)
I put it up as God of War PSP and when the islandofrhodes revealed the name I wrote in to SE and had them change it. It got changed right after I made the comment about the official name is the comment area.
WTH I did multiple searches on the SE for it by typing in "god of war" and "god", and it never showed any unlisted god of war game for psp. I'm sorry. How'd you know the title that far ahead of time?
