I really don't think starwars and lego go together well...no adult or person over 10 is going to want this lego starwars game over any mario game. I think there will be plenty of titles for wii in bargin bin when the time comes too....
Good point on the earlier LEGO games. I also agree wtih you that this will be a likely X-Mas gift. These titles cross demographics (easy enough for kids, nostalgic for adults), so it should do well over time.
The lack of advertising, plus the glut of Wii games in November (Mario & Sonic, Mario Galaxy, Rabbids 2, Crossbow Training, Guitar Hero....) means this one will probably get lost in the shuffle. I plan on picking it up, but not until after X-Mas (should I not receive it as a gift). I think this game will suffer from sluggish early sales, but could have a decent set of legs as long as retailers keep it on the shelves.
@zeromous, Well, I'm out there, if you feel like selling.
I think this'll exceed the pattern of previous LEGO games, if for nothing else than the style seems tailor made for the Wii. The previous versions did respectable numbers on adult consoles, and alright numbers on the "kiddie" console (GC). But, like I've said before, this is a Wii game through and through, so I fully expect numbers to eventually exceed the totals from any of the other systems, possibly even all systems.
I admit there's some overlap there (some of us can't afford to buy more than 1 game per week).
This is going to sell like hotcakes on Black Friday and beyond, as mom's everywhere load up on appropriate games for their 4-10 year olds and their matching Wiis for christmas.
But its beyond where this one will truly sell. If you look back I think you'll find this suits the pattern of previous Lego Star Wars games (which also had overlap/competition from some big releases sw&hw).
@Laoldar, I think there's probably more overlap than you think, due to the overall mentality of video game people (probably star wars fans to some degree), and the popularity of the "Wii60" combination of platforms. But, I meant more that people see VGC has COD4 at half a million plus, and kind of freak out about Lego Star Wars' relatively low sales number.
