@Gaara42, I dont see why they should bundle it now.The last project gothems sold really well (about 1.5million) 4dkp is not good if it had a full month of sales. 67dkp so far . VGC over estimated it by 50%. So its sold about 40dkp so far. Its been out for 4months. Even with a bundle i cant see it picking up another 40dkp. 55-60dkp is my estimate.
Project Gotham Racing 3 was part of an Xbox360 bundle (Source 1 and Source 2).
Project Gotham Racing 2 was part of a bundle in Japan (Source 1 and Source 1). It was also included in a bundle in the UK (Source 1).
Project Gotham Racing was parts of a Toys R Us bundle for the original Xbox (Source 1). Not sure if there was any official bundle for this game in the series.
Due to the fact that all the other games in the Project Gotham Racing series were part of bundles in some form (the most recent two in official bundles), I concluded that Microsoft would continue to give the same treatment to Project Gotham Racing 4, since the game is accessible and like Forza 2 (which was also bundled) it is a racing game, so it appeals to a wide range of consumers, is cooperative and is a good game. Also, this series is published by Microsoft, so I assume that they would not mind making up for disappointing retail sales (unless the game did well at retail in Europe or had a long tail in America) by bundling the game. For these reasons I think that Project Gotham Racing 4 will be included in a bundle at some later date.
I think that this game got ignored initially due to many other big name titles being released. During the holiday season people picked this up as a gift or word of mouth spread. I will try to find another data source besides vgchartz or NPD that has sales for the last couple months.
@Gaara42, Hmm, the VGC data seems to indicate this game is accelerating in sales. Is there a second opinion on this? We only had 38,300 copies sold in the game's first month according to the NPD Group.
People should also keep in mind that this game will probably be marketed a bit more after the holiday season, in order to increase sales. It is also very likely that this game will be put into a bundle much like Forza 2 was. I see this game in the end being able to do near 90DKP+, with anticipation that sales of this game will pick up during the spring and the possible introduction of a bundle sometime in the future.
vgchartz has this game at around 670,000 copies sold once their American and European/Japanese numbers are combined.
"vgchartz is an independent site who bases their numbers on a small pool of data, which is known to be inaccurate at times, only use loosely as a guide."
@sam300, FYI, you can use the link button to make your link into a live hyperlink.
Just to note, the bundling of PGR4 here is a retailer offer, and not an in box deal. Forza 2 is not being replaced as it is bundled in the Pro SKU and not the Arcade SKU that is being offered in this case.
