i can't find the original article post about Gibson suing over GH3. So i'll just post it here. The Onion posted a funny "article" today about Gibson suing.
Instrument maker's quest to have Activision's Guitar Hero pulled from store shelves extended to include EA, MTV, and Harmonix's latest four-piece rhythm game.
The update will include an in-game store to purchase songs from, album art for tracks/packs and streaming audio previews of the songs before downloading; players will be able to look at the difficulty levels for each song with ratings for the overall challenge as well as a breakdown for each of the four parts; extra content loads faster and is cached so that it doesn't have to reload the extras every time you turn on the game. Albums will be coming soon, various other updates to the game itself.
Continuing its recent legal activity, guitar manufacturer Gibson has sued Rock Band developer Harmonix, along with owner MTV Networks and publisher Electronic Arts, for infringing on one of its patents.
The guitar maker also sued six retailers--GameStop, Amazon.com, Wal-Mart, Target, Toys "R" Us and Kmart--earlier this week for selling publisher Activision's Guitar Hero line of music games.
Rock Band keeps rocking the downloadable content market as Harmonix announced today the game has sold over 6 million songs in just over three months. The title has set the bar for DLC with fresh weekly content and the last update we had about sales numbers stated that Rock Band had sold 2.5 million pieces of DLC around mid-January.
The European versions of Rock Band may feature exclusive regional songs.Word comes from the Play.com Live event at the weekend, where keen-eyed attendees spotted a track list wielded by EA staff demonstrating the game.According to ButtonBandits, UK rockers will get Beetlebum by Blur, Rock 'n' Roll Star by Oasis, Through the Monsoon by Tokyo Hotel and Hysteria by Muse.Meanwhile, those of you in France will be offered Manu Chao by Les Wamaps, L'Aventurier by Indochine, and New Wave by Playmo.
