Is there a release date on this yet for US or EU? We missed the game for Japan, probably because no wikidate was submitted. We need to get people updating the dates when they know the info so the games get listed in a timely matter.
Visually, Crisis Core is one of the best to hit the PSP.
Fans of the Final Fantasy VII universe would be depriving themselves if they skip out on this when the English version hits the shores in 2008.
@Laoldar, 1st of all I just want you to know that I was not the one to downbid you in either of your 2 recent comments in this thread. I misinterpreted your comment "it'll be interesting to see if it lasts for longer than a week". I was thinking you meant the increase in PSP sales. Check my mistake off to being tired & staring at the PC too long. Though as I think about it my view is changing as I type. I think the PSP could or could not outsell the DS next week, probably not but who knows how JA will respond to the PSP2k.
I agree with some of your points. I wouldn't say they copied with the colors thing, everyone does that now, though Nintendo started it a long time ago with the gbpocket. Better load times & video out can be the pushing factor to people who have waited to get a PSP. The major factor is if there's been a price drop in JA for PSP2k or not... Anyone know?
I've long wanted a PSP myself, but have waited because of the price and I can honestly say that video out to me is a HUGE addition. For a # of reasons. 1) Any UMD or media content I put on a memory stick I can now view on my TV. 2) If I'm playing a game while I'm away I can continue it at home on the big screen or start on the big screen before leaving. This point will be utilized by tons of people. 3) There are games for PSP I want because of the game itself, moreso than because its portable, I can see myself playing PSP at home on a TV simply because its a game I want to play.
What does the PSP2 offer that will cause Japanese consumers to rush out and buy it? I see they copied the multiple colours of the DS and are also offering a lighter/slimmer feel to it (And the better loading times is a definite improvement if it lives up to the hype). Video-out? Kinda silly for a handheld. I doubt it will change the weekly sales numbers much...the PSP still lacks the software appeal of the DS, which is its true strength.
Looking at the numbers provided, the PSP beat the DS by a 25k (99,000 to 74,000). Sales the week before had the PSP at 16,000 to the DS' 79,000. So the FF7 game caused a 83,000 (518%) increase in PSP sales. Japanese sales that are driven by a single title don't tend to last (note weekly peaks in PS3 sales) and the handheld itself doesn't seem to have much appeal on its own. I expect PSP sales to follw Crisis Core sales closely...and for sales of that game to quickly drop down (still a great seller, but not passing 350k in a week again).
