after looking into it i really dont think that this game will surpass LOTRO which was delisted at 62.9 dkp as its a less known franchise. whats more LOTRO recieved very good reviews, 8/10 and above mainly, and i dont think this will surpass that by far if at all. even with the LOTR franchise and a good solid game at heart it still didnt sell very well.
i think LOTRO shows us what complete dominance WoW has on the MMORPG market and how difficult it is even for an establshed fantasy franchise such as LOTR to break into that market. i dont think AoC has any better chances unless it turns out to revolutionise the genre. hence why ive shorted it.
hmmm, at a 100dkp im not sure wether to short on not. on one hand this game could be a complete flop and only manage a couple of hundred thousand units, or it could be a huge success along the lines of WoW (unlikely but possible). or it could achieve reasonable sales and id come out round about even.
Funcom, developer of the upcoming Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, has acknowledged that the MMO will be censored in Germany. Subsequently, Drake corrected a post and revealed that the US version was submitted to the ESRB and given an M-rating without any server-side censorship. It will therefore feature full blood, full fatalities and breasts with nipples.
The "elsewhere in Europe" version, rated 18+ by PEGI, remains unchanged.
"Funcom has told Eurogamer that Age of Conan has been pushed back to 20th May. The gory MMORPG was previously expected in March, but apparently the developer needed more time to iron out bugs and stress-test the systems."
Michael Zenke writes on his impressions of Age of Conan's showing at CES 2008. "Sitting down with Age of Conan: Hyborean Adventures today was something of a wakeup call for me. ... For me, Conan's moment was when I finally 'got' the combat."
The highly anticipated MMO is now set to release on the 25th of March 2008. By setting a new release date for the game, Funcom can continue the focus on honing, polishing and improving the heralded qualities of the game, ensuring a fantastic MMO experience when it launches next spring.
