a podcast where Insomniac devs get a chance to chat about their favorite project right now, they talk about how the "textures have significantly improved since the previous week."
they even mention that some areas are so well-designed that you might actually "feel" the sensation of the surrounding environment. For example, if you're in Iceland, it's so authentic, you might feel cold! Yeah, it'll all be in your head, but still...
Last weekend at PAX, we sat down with Bryan Intihar, the Community Manager / Hand Model (yes, that is on his business card) for Insomniac to go over Resistance 2. We were able to get some fascinating details about the secretive co-op mode (drop-in/drop-out confirmed!), as well as some interesting story tidbits (evidently this time around, Hale remembers he can talk).
Out of the many games that Sony was showing off at PAX this year, the one that easily dominated their show booth was Resistance 2. They had 16 stations setup, each linked into the ongoing private beta servers so that expo attendees could get a true taste of 60 player online action.
Gun-toting xenophobes, rejoice! Sony has confirmed that Resistance 2, much like all games ever, will have its North American release in the alarmingly crowded month of November -- the 4th, to be exact. Insomniac's ambitious first-person shooter will also arrive in the company of a fancy, $79.99 collector's edition, complete with the usual making-of videos, art books and snarling statuettes.
The price, which is probably the most likely detail of the bunch to be changed down the line, is set at $79.99. For this, you'll get a bonus DVD with a behind the scenes documentary, video commentary by Insomniac and a "Twisted History" chronology video. You'll also nab yourself an exclusive multiplayer character skin, a double-sided Resistance art book and a sneak peek at the upcoming Resistance novel, "The Gathering Storm." Wait, there's an upcoming Resistance novel?
"Which image do you want to see on your Resistance 2 Collector's Edition cover? While you may think developing the game is our biggest challenge at Insomniac, we agonize almost equally over important details like creating and choosing the box art. And this time, we've got three solid images that are making the decision especially difficult. We're torn, and want to know what you think. So vote! We'll be eagerly awaiting your feedback, as always." says the CEO of Insomniac Games.
Why is this title forecasted to sell so many more copies than the original (the stock is currently pointing at 5.14 million units)? True, the install-base of the PS3 will be much wider, but if there is so much interest in the sequel, there must be interest in picking up the original, which topped out under 3 million copies.
Insomniac's Ted Price says that the company plans to feature trophy and Home support for both PlayStation 3 Resistance titles.
During a live text interview on our sister site, Eurogamer.net, Price wasn't able to answer whether or not Resistance 2 will feature skill points - but he did say that there will be intel docs which will expand on the franchise's lore.
