The Treyarch-developed shooter will include four-player online co-op for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, while the console versions will also allow soldiers to pair up offline for local split-screen gameplay, with "a unique co-op mode for two players" reserved for soldiers waggling on the Wii. However, the game's online focus won't end with simply gunning down enemy soldiers, players will recieve persistent experience points for participating in both competitive and cooperative online battles.
@lstormy10, Ok. My bad. I forgot that it is COD3 (WW2) that is available on Wii, not COD4. I didn't play both game (don't like FPS), and I only remember that there are some COD game on Wii around the launch period.
@apujanata, Ummm... Call of Duty 4 was not available on Wii. They skipped Wii because Infinity Ward did not have the developers to develop for the Wii and probably because the bad Call of Duty 3 port to the Wii did not turn out so hot (quality-wise, not sure about sales). However, I believe that if Activision and Treyarch are not able to develop a quality Call of Duty game this time around with World at War, then the series is effectively dead on the Wii (as the type of gamers that would play CoD: WaW are not likely to take a chance at picking-up another CoD game on the Wii after two bad games).
@Mushashi, IMO, when a publisher consider to grant time exclusive or even permanent exclusive to one platform (like X360), while their previous game in that series is multiplatform (like COD4), they need to consider compensation not only for the "loss sales", but for "loss of good will" or "boycotting" from hardcore market. If you play COD4 on, say, Wii, and COD5 (COD:WaW) are not available on Wii, you (hardcore gamer, who only own Wii) might consider boycotting or bad-mouthing Activion. This is another area of intangible effect of going single platform from previously multi-platform.
This game was announced for 6 systems (DS,PS2,PS3,PC,X360 and Wii), unless Microsoft can afford to compensate for several million sales on the other systems, this game will be multiplatform.
The simple explanation would be that the trailer has been released on the Xbox360 marketplace so obviously MS arent going to want to advertise the game on anything but their own systems i.e 360 and PC. There is still a PS3 version as far as i can tell.
I saw the Debut Trailer right now and at the end was no mention of the PS3 version. I thought it's coming out for all 3 systems (PC, 360 AND PS3). Somebody how knows if it's a timed exclusive or is the PS3 version cancelled?
From Joystiq: "[...]New scans lifted from the latest issue of the UK's Official Xbox Magazine have confirmed earlier rumors that the series' fifth installment, apparently dubbed Call of Duty: World at War, will be handled by developer Treyarch, and that the game's previously teased "new military theater" will again drop players behind enemy lines in a battle for the Pacific during World War II.
