Game of the Month: January 2008 - Please, More Heroes.

IGN.com - January 31, 2008

Submitted by Thumper (797) at 11:49AM PST on February 1, 2008

It wasn't the highest scored game of the month, but it's certainly the one we'd recommend if you've got a chance to play one (and just one) game this month. It may not be the most technically sound product on Wii, but it's a must-have for hardcore gamers, and a truly imaginative experience. Rent it, buy it, or steal it; just make sure you play it.

"Two interesting items related to localized versions of No More Heroes have popped up, and we decided to combine them despite the fact that they don't necessarily relate to one another."

Mini-Skirt Or Not, No More Customers

Japanese Wii owners buy Wii Sports, Wii Fit and maybe Super Mario Galaxy. That's about it, really! So, when a third party company releases something that, well, isn't any of those three, what happens? Not much. That's No More Heroes executive producer and Harvest Moon creator Yasuhiro Wada and No More Heroes and Killer 7 creator Goichi Suda hoping to sign copies of NMH. Thing is, after twenty minutes of Suda and Wada standing in front of Akihabara's Sofmap, nobody bought the game.

No More Heroes Review (7.8/10.0)

IGN - January 22, 2008

Submitted by lstormy10 (294) at 4:31PM PST on January 22, 2008

"No More Heroes delivers snappy combat, hilarious characters, cinematic battles, and some of the most rewarding motion fighting since Godfather: Blackhand Edition. There’s a point in No More Heroes where you realize that even despite all its shortcomings you’re still having a great time playing the game, and we won’t deny that aspect. If you can put up with a lack of polish, No More Heroes is an extremely rewarding product, and a must-have for any Suda fan or hardcore gamer."

Suda Keen on More No More Heroes

"Suda 51: 'I'm really willing to make a sequel version--and right now I'm asking if it can be made...I think No More Heroes is a great game, there's no other action game like it for the Wii. If it was a band, it would be really energetic, like the Arctic Monkeys.' "

In the bizarre California metropolis of Santa Destroy, your trainer encourages you to get naked for your workout, and hired goons bemoan the loss of their spleen when cleaved in two. If you've played any of director SUDA-51's previous games, especially 2005's Killer 7, this kind of irreverent and ironic humor won't come as a shock.
