Expect host migration (even when a host drops teams stay together), better accuracy for snipers and ACOG scope users, an expanded Kill Cam that includes claymores, airstrikes and grenades, nine new spawn points on each map, quick mute and some other tweaks.

Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer Hands-On

If the beta is any indication, COD4 is going to be one of the deepest online shooters of all time. The short-lived Halo 3 multiplayer beta was the talk of the gaming world this summer, and for good reason. But before we crown the gang at Bungie kings of online multiplayer, give Call of Duty 4 a chance. It may just be the multiplayer game that will have you hooked through the winter.

IGN Preview Trailer Analysis

IGN.com - May 1, 2007

Submitted by Gaara42 (8) at 12:48PM PST on May 20, 2007

"There's no doubt that these scenes show off quite a familiar vision of modern warfare, and one that echoes a number of other titles, from GRAW through to Metal Gear Solid 4. Fortunately, that seems to be the tip of the iceberg. There are several shots set in muted grasslands, a line of wonky telegraph poles protruding from the earth as camouflaged troops move carefully through, not to mention a richly atmospheric forest setting, with fog settling on the moonlit ground. Even from the trailer, it's clear that Call of Duty 4 isn't light on mood. The lighting in particular frames each setting wonderfully, from husky sunsets through to night vision melee combat."

While Australians shunned those old stalwarts, they most definitely did not shun Call of Duty 4. Call of Duty 4 (360) took the number 1 spot with PC and PS3 version also placing in the top 10 this week.

Activision is planning to release Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on 9th November in Europe for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. A senior brand manager let the news slip during a press event this week, and although Activision UK representatives could only confirm "winter" the view from retail is that this is the date for which they are gunning.
