Modern Warfare 2 won't just be about a chunky single-player campaign and endlessly playable multiplayer, it's also going to be bringing quick drop-in-and-play single missions meant to be tackled as a two-person team or solo. The levels, Activision told Kotaku today, were inspired by the single Mile High level that unlocked at the end of Modern Warfare. That level wasn't tied to the story, instead it was a single mission with objectives.

The changes made to the Call of Duty setting and options are a more than a welcome addition. It is not going to win over many new fans, as it doesn't truly bring any changes to the table; Infinity Ward has done it again. The campaign is tense and full of all that drama. Pair that up with one of the most impressive online offering we have seen in awhile and you have a winner. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warface is an excellent title and deserving of any accolades it receives within the genre.

As the public beta of the game stirs the hype pot, details are emerging today about the Limited Collector's Editions for Call of Duty 4. Activision announced today that two special editions will be available, one for the Xbox 360, and one for the PC. Both Collector's Editions will include a hardcover book with both concept and final artwork for the game.

Robert Bowling, COD4 Community Manager Writes: "Despite what the internet might tell you (including some 'official' sources), the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare variety map pack has NOT been delayed until the 10th. As of right now we’re pushing certification for an on-time release for April 3rd or 4th. As of right now though, I’m being told that it’s a good chance it will be released worldwide (except for Japan) tomorrow night / early-Friday morning."

Ordinarily, multiplayer map packs aren't the most exciting things. But this is Call of Duty 4 we're talking about, the biggest multiplayer phenomenon since Halo. Players who've been playing for months may have advanced past the prestige level, but have played every single map in every single mode many times over, most likely. It's time for some new stuff.

Not many games deserve a full ten out of ten, but Call of Duty 4 isn't just a game. Call of Duty 4 makes it easy to see why gaming is bigger than the film industry now; its superb, topical touchy story is big screen material and I'm giving nothing away bar the synopsis.
