Joystiq - June 20, 2007

Submitted by frogcrusher (1090) at 11:06AM PST on June 20, 2007

Industry fortune teller, Wedbush-Morgan's Michael Pachter, says Manhunt 2's freedom of expression will cost publisher Take-Two millions -- good thing Take-Two may have gotten that GTA IV advance money! Pachter believes the game would have generated $25 million in revenues this quarter, along with another $15 million in reorders.

Manhunt 2 First Look "Based on what we saw, Manhunt 2...

GameSpot - April 26, 2007

Manhunt 2 First Look "Based on what we saw, Manhunt 2 looks to be an interesting follow-up to the original game. The core gameplay that was so appealing is intact and expanded on in smart ways. The visuals, though not next gen, are stylish and nicely done for the platform. The story looks cool so far, with a crazy X-Files-esque conspiracy under the surface and some Jacob's Ladder "Am I insane?" touches thrown in for good measure."

U.S Retailer Target Pulls Manhunt 2 From Shelves

Gamasutra - November 7, 2007

Submitted by Just_Ben (112) at 9:02AM PST on November 7, 2007

Major U.S. retailer Target has pulled Manhunt 2 from its shelves, and the title no longer appears in search results at the retailer's online store. The move comes in the wake of a broadly-circulated, but complex hack that un-blurred some of the controversial kill scenes in the PSP version of the game.

BBFC: Who are they rating for?

Gamesindustry - October 25, 2007

An article on the Gameindustry website discussing apparent double standards with how the UK Censor body deals with Films and Games. In particular they compare Rockstars Manhut 2 which has yet to be rated and David Cronenberg's latest sick-flick, Eastern Promises which has been granted an 18 certificate.

Manhunt 2 Controversy

CheatCC - July 2, 2007

Submitted by lstormy10 (294) at 5:29PM PST on July 2, 2007

"If you're a hardcore gamer, chances are you've heard about the storm of controversy swarming around Manhunt 2. The game has been banned in numerous overseas countries and has received the AO rating, which bars it from release on any console. Rockstar, the developers of Manhunt 2 as well as the ultra-popular Grand Theft Auto series, have come out and supported their game, going as far as to call it a work of art. The game's violence isn't in dispute, as the first Manhunt was one of the goriest and most disturbing games ever released. However, Manhunt 2 violence has been compared to that of an R-rated movie, creating a huge discrepancy in the judging between the two genres. This week Cheat Code Central is addressing the controversy surrounding Manhunt 2 and discussing what this will inevitably mean for the gaming industry."

Not really a shock. But the game will not be released on July 10th due to Sony and Nintendo's ban on AO rated games.

Manhunt 2 Credits Forget To Thank People Who Made Manhunt 2

kotaku - November 2, 2007

Submitted by pilias_simber (122) at 5:13AM PST on November 2, 2007

Boy, this Manhunt 2 game, it's looking more and more like a blood-soaked, epileptic-fit-inducing train wreck with each passing day. Today's development? If you can be bothered watching the credits, you'll see a bunch of names whizz by you. Thing is, a few names are missing. Like, most of them. See, the game was developed primarily at Rockstar Vienna, with work commencing in 2004 before the studio was closed down in May 2006.
