The taiwanese Notebook manufacturer Acer plans to enter into the console market. This communicated the senior Vice President, James T. Wong, on a press conference. Most current consoles are closed and proprietaere systems, which machine" on PC technology based "game machine"; from Acer is to set against it on open standards. This could mean that game developers would not have to pay license fees for the publication of plays on this system.

Some for freedom but more for money
Maybe it's a short term problem for EA that leads to a long term solution? An investment if you will.
You say "just a PC" like the PC is some lesser product. What we're talking about here is an open gaming platform. For developing, publishing and playing games. Plus the Xbox looks pretty PC like from where I'm standing.
People have already warmed to digital distribution. More people are entering the market with casual Wii and Web games. I think the time is right for a shake up. You guys are being Negative Nancy but are entitled to your well formed opinions. I say what I say because I look for a more open world, as do more and more people.
