From what I have been told, Microsoft is looking to pay Capcom an undisclosed amount, for timed exclusivity of Resident Evil 5. It is still not known if Capcom has accepted the offer… The information we got, was only that Microsoft has made the offer.
If this is going to be announced it will be @ E3. Similar to the GTAIV “showing of the tattoo” a couple of years ago.
It this is true, all of you petition fanatics out there better get to work.

You are right regarding the full year, not because MS have 3 quarters of profit each, but because the total amount of profit they have in those 3 Q is so big (580 Million USD), that only something really disastrous (like that 1.1 Billion write-off for extended X360 warranty service for RROD) can result in full year loss.
However, I am only thinking about loss for this quarter, "(and MS Gaming Division will have a red this quarter)", not loss for whole year.

Sorry for the typoe : I meant 50 Million USD, not 500 Million. Even that 50 Million is too high, I think it is more realistic to expect 20 Million. Remember that the 50 Million for GTAIV DLC is not "incentive", it is "advance payment" for future DLC revenue. Unless RE5 X360 also have DLC content, that 20 Million is just to "buy" time exclusivity.
If this really happen, PS3 hardcore (which do not have X360) will get really, really angry at Capcom.

To be clear to everyone, you are referring to Monolith Soft and not the other Monolith (aka Monolith Productions). Soft has made the Baten Kaitos series and Disaster: Day of Crisis and was previously owned by Namco Bandai while Productions has made the first FEAR and Project Origin.

Robbie Bach already stated MS will have a full year in the black for this fiscal year so that isn't going to happen. 3 quarters are already in and they posted a profit for each. They will post another profit this Q according to Bach so the Red thing just isn’t happening. Also, let’s keep things in perspective. MS loaned Take Two 50 million for GTA IV DLC. You might not like it, but that is the fact of the life. Every business is in it for money, and if MS can make the offer "sweet" (or big) enough, Capcom will bite.
Which is why Nintendo is "lucky", since their first party offering is immune to this kind of "incentives", unless MS bought another "Rare" from Nintendo. However, I don't think MS can "buy" EAD, or any other wholy owned Nintendo company, only partially owned company, like "Rare" or "Monolith" (Tecmo is partially owned, IIRC). Please note that I am NOT saying that Monolith are going to be bought by MS. I am just using Monolith as example of company that are not whole owned (100% owned) by Nintendo.

In a way I kind of agree, but then again I disagree from a business perspective as well. MS has had a stance of securing 3rd party exclusives, which I think from their business model has made sense. This is the part of MS in the game industry that displeases me. They're not going to have a loss this qaurter with GTA IV release in the same Q, nope. 4Q's of profit yea. Regardless we will have the numbers later in July.
