It is unlikely that MS will open up the Blu-Ray or for that matter the HDDVD drives for use with games.
As for models Microsoft to my mind only have 3, the Core, The Pro and the Elite. Yes they have had different incarnations of the same theme but they pretty much have always had the 3 models (Bundles aside).
If MS were to adopt the Blu-Ray it would be nice to see it form part of a future Elite SKU as that is primarily aimed at the top end market and has worked well for MS.
My money is always on choice and I see MS offering choice letting the consumer decide what they need before they buy. So with that same ethos in mind I hope they also as they did with the HDDVD offer a cheap external drive.
