Though Fable 2 won't show sex, it is a critical part of the game. As many an IGN editor can tell you, unprotected sex leads to children. And once you start having kids, you've got yourself a family. It's this family that creates emotional ties to the world of Albion. It's that family Molyneux plans to use to make you care about Fable 2 more deeply than you may have ever cared for anything in a game before.
"He took his heroine home after a long absence, the guy playing coop casually pulled a gun & murdered her husband in front of her son. Dead, with no way to undo the horrible deed. Right before this, the son had been pleading with mother not to abandon him again for so long. That would make us feel real guilt. The husband had been scolding his wife not to bring unwholesome travel companions back home (co-op part who would later kill him). That would make us feel real shame."
Co-op is a simple setup where, at any time and at any point in the adventure, a friend can plug in a controller, hit start, and join your game world. This player is considered a henchman, who assists on your adventure. He can do anything he might do in his own game -- fart, kill Hobs, kick chickens -- and takes all his earned experience, gold and renown with him when he pops back off to his own version of Albion. The only thing he won't have is his own dog.
Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux detailed plans to bring the Fable 2 experience to Xbox Live Arcade. An Arcade preview of Fable 2 which will allow players to dive into the world, pre-release, and earn money to be used in the retail version of the game. [Also,] a dynamic cooperative mode was announced. The dynamic coop mode allows a friend to join your experience at any time.
According to a listing on the Amazon UK product page for Fable 2, the anticipated sequel to Peter Molyneux's original Xbox-exclusive role-playing game, a date has been set for a spring release. The listing shows Fable 2 will hit store shelves on May 30.
thats interesting. without seeing what other people had to say, when i saw that microsoft had partnered with SpeedTree, i immediately thought Fable 2 would be using it.
Earlier this week we reported on news that Microsoft Game Studios partnered with IDV's SpeedTree software and also (semi-jokingly) speculated that Lionhead would be using SpeedTree in Fable 2. Well, we just wanted to say that we were 100% wrong about our speculation.
This game seems like it will end up like Mass Effect, it will get good reviews and sell well, but I am not sure about 3 million. It seems like it should be possible considering how Elder Scrolls IV sold, but I think this stock should be hovering around 50DKP above what Mass Effects number is. If this game delivers on all of its promises (with Molyneux you have to doubt) then I could see it breaking the 3 million mark. For now a 270-330DKP range seems reasonable to me.
Fable 2 will be released in "late 2008", Peter Molyneux told Eurogamer readers today in a wide-ranging LiveText interview.
Molyneux also dropped hints about what else the British developer - now Microsoft-owned - is working on. "We are working on a title now which is kind of a hybrid of Dimitri," he told Eurogamer readers.
