Lionhead is going all out in an effort to ensure Fable 2 is the best game they can possibly make, as we were privileged enough to see a content-complete version of the game.
The original Fable sold more than three million copies on Xbox. Many of those who purchased the game were keenly aware of one glaring omission -- there were no casino-style games. Fortunately, Peter Molyneux and crew are remedying this oversight for the sequel with Fable II Pub Games. The XBLA title, set to arrive in August, offers three gambling mini-games to suck away your time (and your characters' cash) until Fable II hits stores later in the year.
Microsoft has announced that Fable 2 Pub Games, a collection of three casino-style Xbox Live Arcade games that help you boost your money for Fable 2, is coming in August for 800 MS points (US $10). However, according to the press release, Pub Games is free for those who pre-order at participating retailers.
This game seems like it will end up like Mass Effect, it will get good reviews and sell well, but I am not sure about 4.5 million. It seems like it should be possible considering how Elder Scrolls IV sold, but I think this stock should be hovering around 100DKP above what Mass Effects number is, since that game was released in more red waters (and more recently) where as Oblivion was released in much bluer oceans. If this game delivers on all of its promises (with Molyneux you have to doubt) then I could see it breaking the 3 million mark. For now a 270-330DKP range seems reasonable to me.
Where is this stock going? As of February, Gears of War sold something like 4.5 Million... is Fable 2, even with more systems to sell to, going to approach this number?
Fable has a storied history and I suspect people burned of Molyneux's endeavors in the past may be hesitant to get behind this game.
Fable 2 will reflect the way you play it. Not only in the visual representations of the world as you leave it, but also in the way the game actually plays. Fable 2 is meant to be all things to all gamers, despite your skill level. One way they’re making that happen is in the controls. Button assignments are easy, with one button assigned for melee, ranged and magic attacks. But if you want to play the game in an advanced way, more complex attacks will be stacked on each button.
