SimEx currently has stocks for Hydrophobia which is an XBLA game and also PC games which have digital sales so we do already track digital sales for some games.
@Animate, I would like KoC to post the statement directly, to be clear to every player in simEx.
I also want to know, why we do not have IPO on digital only games, like XBOX Live Arcade games, Wii-Ware, NDS Ware, etc, if we are counting digital sales of games.
I actually don't think the current situation has occurred in the past. They are basically giving a voucher with the 360 that allows you to download a free copy of the game. So no one is actually purchasing the download, they're getting the game for free off of xbox live. Including these sales on TSE also seems very problematic, since not everyone who buys a 360 during the bundle period will have access to xbox live to download the game. The fact that not everyone who gets the bundle will get the game demonstrates the issue with counting this as a sale, since that is not what it is. Purchasing the bundle just makes a download available for anyone able and willing to get it from xbox live.
This game is currently listed as having sold .77m units and vgchartz and is selling about .01m per week and slowly declining. For it to get to the 200+ DKP that it has suddenly shot up to, this game would need to keep selling at the same rate for over two years, which is highly unlikely since sales are currently slowing (albeit gradually) and the game has already been released in all major regions. Something more like 130-140 DKP would seem much more reasonable unless someone has some good analysis as to why the price should be so much higher.
Bringing a new style of storytelling to Xbox 360, Alan Wake is a psychological action thriller from Remedy, the renowned original developers of the successful Max Payne series. In this dynamic new title exclusively for Xbox 360, players assume the role of Alan Wake, a best-selling suspense author suffering from writer's block, who escapes to a small town only to experience the mysterious disappearance of his wife.
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 game Alan Wake has been on the market for six weeks now and has reached half a million in sales – not bad for a game that does not have the same hype as Call of Duty or the Halo series. At the last count more than 26,000 copies were shifted in the week leading up to June 19, 2010.
