he Xbox 360 and PC versions of id's Rage sport higher framerates than the PlayStation 3 version, the latest issue of Edge magazine reveals.
In a ten-page reveal in its latest issue, Edge writes that the Xbox 360 version of Rage - which uses id's new Tech 5 engine - matches the 60fps framerate of the PC version, while PS3 runs at just "20-30fps".

It turns out the website that broke the news quoted on section of the article. Carmack goes on to say it will run 60 fps on all platforms.

Basically the PS3 version is behind at the moment as they still need to optimise for RSX. They expect to hit 60fps across all three platforms.
It's interesting to see Carmack confirm what I've been saying about console hardware all along. Both consoles have different strengths and weaknesses leading performance to be roughly equivalent.
The dream console for most developers would certainly be a combination of CELL and the Xbox 360's GPU. (Not to mention more *usable* memory than is found in the PS3).[ Oracle ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 291 ]bids
