Wow the IGN article is basically comparing Resistance: Fall of Man with Gears of War. They say it took a year for Xbox 360 to get its killer app while PS3 has its killer app from Day 1. It sounds like they did some great things with this game--from very intelligent AI to innovative weapons.
The IGN article I just posted under PS3 says 15,700 copies of Resistance were sold at the Japanese launch--roughly 18% of Japanese PS3 customers bought the game. This is impressive considering that many of the PS3 customers were scalpers who bought NO games and FPS games traditionally do not do well in Japan--especially ones depicting 1950s United States.
The IGN review of 10 November suggests that Resistance could be the killer app for PS3. With Resistance being a launch title, that is very good news for PS3.
"Owners of some gaming systems have to wait years before they get a true "killer app," but PlayStation 3 users get theirs on day one. Insomniac's Resistance: Fall of Man is far and away the most impressive title on the console"
