I see. Sorry that I didn't click on the link, and didn't realize that the status was upgraded from Gold to Platinum.
IIRC, UK is around 40% of Europe gaming, so Europe should be 750K - 1 Million. How do you arrive at the 1.5 Million for PAL ? Australia # shouldn't be significant (percentage wise compared to Europe).
A little bit correction : IIRC, UK is 200K+, not yet 300K, since the status is Gold, not Platinum. Silver : 100K Gold : 200K Platinum : 300K Double Platinum : 600K Diamond : 1200K
This game will sell way more than this amount easily. FACT It sold ~ 1m in NA and ~ 500k in Japan and these are not the strongest market for this game, Europe is. Just look at UK charts. It sold more than 300k in the UK alone (confirmed by ELSPA) and I think it's at ~ 400k by now: http://www.elspa.com/?i=3944 IMO it's at ~ 1.5m in PAL territories alone which put the LTD sales of it at more than 3m worldwide. Remember that it will sell very well in the upcoming months and will see a huge boost during Beijing Olympics. Atm 4m is the least amount anyone should predict for this game's LTD sales.
@Bleezy,With a lot of information on how this is selling and the huge non stop advertising here in europe and like you said about the BEIJING 2008 there is a good chance this could hit 3.5million id say this has allready hit the 1million mark. With the wii shortages everyware it will sell in january.Looks like this will sell all year round.
I must also provide this bit of information. If you look here at the Customer Reviews on Game Stop, you'll see 215 reviews averaging 4 out of 5 stars! And reading through them you can see that lots of old people really like this game. But really, it's the average of 4 out of 5 stars.
Also here at Amazon is the same thing. Average rating of 4 out of 5 for customer reviews. And here is the same thing i noticed with age: "We are a two adult, no children household. We look for Wii games that are suitable for many players (we like to have friends over to play), and that are very engaging, and fun. We don't like war/shooter games or games that are too juvenile. We also try to find games that are structured around the unique Wii experience. (Ie, we don't buy racing games and others that... Read the full review › "
@Just_Ben, "Brain Training was by far Game of the Week in the last Chart Track sales update from the UK, selling more copies across a seven-day period than any other in the country. However, this week the big winner is Mario & Sonic on Wii, thanks to Sega’s on-going marketing campaign. The game has topped the All Formats chart, beating the No.2 game by just 330 sales units, rising 39% over last week’s total (which itself had been a new record for the fastest selling Wii game over seven days – seems that record did not last long and the bar has been set much higher!). Retailer bundles also helped the Olympic-themed title, making it Sonic’s first No.1 since Sonic Mega Collection Plus back at the start of 2005 and Mario’s first since way back in 2002 when Super Mario Sunshine hit the top on GameCube." - link
"The game’s sudden rise to the top can be attributed in large part to its inclusion in several unofficial retail hardware bundles – generally the only way the supply constrained Wii is now sold in the UK. Similar bundles also accounted for the sudden re-appearance of Mario Party 8 at number four in the charts, as well as Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 at number twenty." - link
Okay so perhaps i exagerated on the impact of the retailer bundles, however the fact it is #1 in UK for first week in December is still not to be overlooked. Coupled with the 330,000 sold in the USA in November, the game is probably over 1 mil already. Also, being number 1 in the UK for a week...how many games does that mean?
