I agree, it seems that many of the high end PC games are the ones that have sales drop off (since they fall of the top PC games list) the fastest. Couple that with the fact that this is being released during the holiday season and that it is mainly aimed toward the high end market (hence the big focus on the graphics and little talk about any real innovative game mechanics) and I don't see this game doing above 150k-195k (15DKP-19.5DKP) in the month of November.
The main (if not sole) selling point of Crysis is how it looks. If people have to settle for reduced visuals (especialy going from DX10 to DX9) and/or suffer a terrible framerate, why would they bother? Might as well pick up one of the other FPS games coming out this fall (like CoD4) and maybe grab Crysis months from now when they upgrade again.
Has anyone found records of past PC FPS sales? Cause I'm having doubts of this game reaching 100,000 in sales.
Crysis will feature DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 support, so this game is not only confined to people running Windows Vista with the latest hardware. Plus, many games like this allow you to play with the settings turned down (what many people who can't afford a high end system do). I see this game selling in the 200,000-250,000 copies in the month of November (20-25DKP). Also, remember this is being released during holiday season, so many people might be getting new computers with Windows Vista equipped or new hardware so that they can play the newer games that are coming out.
@kspraydad, unfortunately, minimum reqs don't tell you a whole lot. The biggest thing about Crysis is the amazing graphics driven by Directx 10, which of course requires a Directx 10 graphics card. Anybody have any idea how many computers out there even have Directx10 cards right now? That has to be the biggest limiting factor.
@Powertrade, I've always been curious why Crysis is forecasted to sell so many copies here. The game has lots of buzz for cutting edge Direct X 10 graphics, but that's also the reason people can't buy the game.
