As i predicted. Week 3 of it's sales, the 4th week of the june period and 15k sales making a total of 75k. So to make the current price of 15DKP this need to double it's total. It'll be lucky to hit 90k. so the gain here could potentially be about 40% for anyone who shorts at 15DKP
I nearly pissed my pants when I saw this price for the future for 5 weeks of 200K. VGChartz has this at 27k for last week, it's 2nd week of sales. 35k for the first. This was a total of 62.4k for the week ending 24th June. These stocks are valued for sales on the June period which extends to July 7th. This was only released in the June 10th-June 17th week so it will only see 4 weeks of sales. This means it needs an average of 50k sale over 4 weeks but with only selling 62k in first 2 weeks it needs an average of 69k per week for the final 2.
This games sales will drop off over the next 2 weeks because there are already 4 wii games outselling it in Resident Evil 4, Wii Sports, Mario Party 8 and Wii Play. Harry Potter was released on June 25th in US so it will likely outsell it also. That is probably 5 wii games above it with RE4, Mario and Harry Potter only recently released.
I know we will be using NPD figures but VG need to be off by almost 150% on the first 2 weeks figures for this to have any sort of chance of reaching 200k. I am shorting this BIG!
how this can rise back in value to what it was at the start of yesterday is beyond me. This game is facing at least a 35DKP price drop before it can even be considered accurate. Check my previous post for the reasoning
In America sales cut in half in it 2nd week. It's 11th for the week but 4 of the top 6 are also wii games selling above 45,000. At the moment it's at 62,488 over 2 weeks but with 4 games higher than it for the same console i can't see sales picking up much and actualy dropping off quite quickly over the next while. Let's assume that this sells 200-250k. Total that with japan and we have 450-500k meaning in europe it has to sell 1M to meet the current projection. Very doubtful. Even if European sales were double Japan then this tops out at about 1M total. An easy short.
"The majority of the minigames use the Wii Remote merely as a laser pointer -- perhaps the developers were truly inspired by the game's educational setting. It's too bad, though, that all you do here is point and click."
Starless, I agree, this game probably could sell much better if Nintendo had released it at $29.99 rather than the full price of regular Wii games at $49.99. Many probably view this game much as they did the DS version, cheap games that can be fun, but at full-price, it sort of eliminates the impulse buy that this game could have been.
I think that the current price may be a bit high, due to the fact that there are nearly as many Wii units right now as compared to DS units when the DS version of this game launched, but this game's sales are dropping off much faster than the DS version did, as indicated by these charts
That and the fact that this game cost $30 more than the DS version, I think it will do around half of what the DS version did, so around 1.7 million copies sold over lifetime.
Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree is a simple collection of brain teasers that are different enough from the other minigame collections on the Wii to make it worth playing.
There was a slight increase in sales this week (12K to 13K). This could indicate that this will be one of those games that simply do not stop selling (like Brain Age, New Super Mario, Animal Crossing etc.), but we should wait till it has been out a little longer before drawing too many conclusions.
I think the one thing that may hold this game back is its price. From what I've seen this game is being sold at full price. The DS "Brain" games were sold at around half the price of an average game in my country. It'll be interesting to see how this affects sales.
