Guillemot: 'Bring on the media giants'

MCV - February 8, 2008

Submitted by deftangel (291) at 5:51AM PST on February 8, 2008

Ubisoft boss ready to take on the big guns as he dismisses talk of a buyout. The world’s biggest media conglomerates will snap up publishers left, right and centre in the coming months – but they would be wasting their time by tapping up Ubisoft. That’s according to Yves Guillemot, who this week told MCV that he was chomping at the bit to take on the likes of Warner Bros, Fox Media and the other global giants who reportedly have their eye on a slice of the games business.

" PS3/360:"Before, it was costing us more like 20 percent, just because it was difficult to learn the PS3 hardware, but now our engines are done, and we can easily develop for both machines."

Ubisoft Finally Brings Casual Gaming To Nintendo DS, Wii

Kotaku - May 21, 2007

Submitted by pilias_simber (122) at 5:05PM PST on May 21, 2007

The company that brought you Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon and Rayman is ramping up its casual games division, finally, thankfully bringing a series of casual Ubisoft developed titles to the Nintendo DS and Wii. Thank God. No casual games drought. In addition to adding new species to its popular Petz series, confirming that horse, cat and dog care sims would be coming to the Wii, Ubisoft revealed the first titles in its My Coach series. My Word Coach, which Ubi reports is "being developed in collaboration with linguists and will help players improve their verbal communication and vocabulary in a fun way" will hit the Nintendo DS and Wii this fall. Following that is My Life Coach for the Nintendo DS, a motivational personal coach for strengthening willpower. You may remember that we posted recently about some Ubisoft language training games, also under the My Coach label, showing up on retailer sites. Now if we can just get some software to address Fahey's need of a furry coach.

I realize that similar articles have been posted but I think that these sales numbers are easier to read from 1up. Rayman Raving Rabbids (830,000), Red Steel (950,000), Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas (1,700,000), Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (1,000,000 ), Petz games, including Dogz, Catz, Hamsterz Life, et. al. (3,500,000 ) Just in case you don't want to read, according to Ubisoft, those numbers are sales and not shipped.

Ubisoft: Europe More Important than U.S.

VG Chartz - September 1, 2008

Submitted by noobie (468) at 4:35AM PST on September 1, 2008

Ubisoft seems to be less than thrilled with the U.S. gaming industry as of late, and Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot explains why: "First, our money - the pound or the euro - is very strong and because of that the turnover from those countries is heavier than they used to be," he explained during an interview at Games Convention. "So for Ubisoft turnover Europe is actually more important than the US now, and by more than 5 per cent. It's become a very strong market for us.
