Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has unveiled a Grand Theft Auto IV PlayStation 3 bundle ahead of the Rockstar title’s highly anticipated release next week. Available on April 29, the same day as GTA IV, the bundle will consist of a 40GB PS3, a SixAxis wireless controller and a copy of the game. The package will go on sale for a recommended retail price of €439.

The first in the series to enjoy the benefits of a simultaneous launch on both major formats, GTA4 is widely expected to surpass sales of even the mighty San Andreas, which currently stands at 21.5 million units.

A source close to Rockstar has confirmed to us that the development studio will be releasing two additional dowloadable content packs for Grand Theft Auto IV, that both of them will be coming to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, and that one of them will focus on the Irish families that Nico helped in the first episode. This confirms earlier rumors circulating around E3 that Rockstar was planning to release a DLC episode called Blood and a Four Leaf Clover.

NPD data suggests that sales of Grand Theft Auto IV may be foundering against high expectations, with consequences for Take-Two as it argues for a better deal from Electronic Arts, according to CNN Money. NPD Data shows that GTA IV was the 46th best-selling game in August, down from 45th place in July. The slowing sales have caused concerns that, with 8.5 million units sold to date, the title may fail to meet sales expectations.
