EA says that in the first week of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning being available over 500,000 players have registered for the game. The game has become the fastest selling new MMO game of all time.
Mythic Entertainment has announced that its fantasy MMO, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, has shipped 1.5 million copies to retailers in preparation for its global release on Thursday. The game has also set a company record for the most retail pre-orders for any PC game in publisher EA's history.
@Heloise10, "we've had ample time on the finely finished and stable beta, exploring both early and late-level content. That's the basis of this review" This is a review based on the beta, not final product, so that you will not be surprised if there is another review in the future.
That means that, until it's been out in the wild a while, this extremely well-made and highly enjoyable MMO remains unproven. And it remains - until our first re-review, at least - one step short of true greatness.
EA has announced that the open beta for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning begins on September 7th. Do you want in? All you have to do is pre-order a copy of the game! However, you can only do so at "select retail partners" and yes, this includes Gamestop. But you can also per-order at a variety of other stores, including Fry's and good ol' Best Buy, too. If you're currently in the closed beta, you'll automatically be given open beta access as well, so don't sweat. Hit the jump for full details.
An open letter was posted on the Warhammer Vault forums, from Mark Jacobs, head of Mythic Entertainment. He confirmed the September 18th release date, clarified some of the pre-order benefits for collector editions.
If what retailers, and the game's official EA website, are showing is true, the oft-delayed Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning will finally be released on September 23. Though no official announcement has been made, the September 23 date does fit nicely into EA's current plans -- 1UP contacted EA regarding the rumored date, and they reiterated that the game will be coming "fall" of this year.
Mythic Entertainment VP and General Manager Mark Jacobs has dropped big news on the Warhammer Online fanbase: major features are being culled from the game in order to make their Fall launch deadline. In short, the capital cities for the Dark Elf, High Elf, Orc, and Dwarf factions will not be in the game at launch.
Additionally, four classes are being removed, deemed to be in a condition unsuitable for launch.
