This seems like a dangerous short. Its sold a massive 14.57 million units according to VGC. I see those numbers only increasing if the Wii Fit balance board becomes necessary for more and more games.
@Arbiter, My suspicion : Someone got a lot of released money by the delisting process, and therefore he/she invested those money to stocks that is overpriced, and Wii Fit are one of the stocks that were chosen.
Who is this someone ? no idea. All I know is that it is not me.
"No wonder simEx's Wii Fit stock price are higher than PS3."
When did Wii Fit go above 63M? :D
I continue to be long on Wii Fit however, here's why.
It's much cheaper to make games for the Wii balance board and it has a bigger install base in Japan. It's also showing no signs of slowing down. This makes it a viable platform to target software at, even in the US / EU
Third parties are struggling to capture the new market Nintendo are bringing in with products like Wii Fit. One early criticism of the Wii was that many regarded it as just a "Wii Sports" machine. Getting a consumer to purchase another game on the back of Wii Sports has proved to be tricky. However, consider the consumers who bought a Wii just for Wii fit. Many more readily available applications spring to mind. Skateboarding, Snowboarding, Step "classes" , Party games and the like.
There is a very viable opportunity for a third party publisher to get in there and make a hit product for a relatively low investment. When one of them cracks it (and publishers like money so they will) it's only going to drive Wii balance board purchases further.
According to a Famitsu report, Wii Fit has sold a staggering three million units in Japan.
Wii Fit has been sold countless copies worldwide and we’re sure this milestone will be the first of many for Nintendo’s digital weight watcher.
@deftangel,with this kind of path blazed it'll be funny to see the effects in 2009-2010 with all major publishers trying to get a slice of this kind of pie :P
