I think I can believe Halo ODST can beat out Modern Warfare. My reasoning is simply that Halo has just that Halo on the box whilst for some inexplicable reason Call of Duty does not.
Research group Gameplan Insights recently conducted a study, which highlighted the most anticipated Xbox 360 games. Its parent company, OTX, polled 1,000 gamers across various demographics every week through March and April, and discovered that Halo 3: ODST is the most anticipated game. Bungie's upcoming spin-off managed to narrowly best Modern Warfare 2 (if you can believe it), according to data Gameplan Insights provided to Gamasutra.
unreleased surprises are always welcome to a good game series. It was unreleased for a while but the addition of Yoda, Darth Vader, and other characters in the soul calibur IV games really gave it an extra push / extra reason to buy and play the game.
This has halo branding. It will mostly have the price point for how much play time it has. Online content can always be added within 3-month, 6-months, and 9-months to keep the game selling and current. The one thing lacking is the lack of epic gear that awards the best of the best. Like the Hayabusa armor. I hope this game has specials that can be unlocked even at the lower level awards (achievements). You said hopefully this means $30. Realistically they could price this game between $35-$40 and it will still sell.
