LBP manager states that they are only half way through fleshing out LBP. Their long term goal is to allow for the creation of games within LBP, not just levels. The creation of a Tetris game within LBP indicates to the developer that they are on the right track.

LittleBigPlanet's Sackboy Primed as PlayStation 3...

1UP - August 13, 2008

Submitted by felipedmoreira (378) at 5:37PM PST on August 18, 2008

Sony is preparing Little Big Planet's Sackboy to take on the hefty role of a PlayStation 3 mascot, according to a report from Advertising Age. We know that the company is counting on the downloadable game to sell hardware, but the planned marketing push goes much deeper than that. "We want LittleBigPlanet to lead the charge into a new genre of gaming and turn Sackboy into the next emblematic character for the PS3," said SCEA marketing manager Mark Valledor. "This is a very big title for us."

LittleBigPlanet Demo Axed for 07

Kotaku.com - December 11, 2007

Submitted by feelmyring (351) at 4:02PM PST on December 11, 2007

"'I can officially confirm that there won't be a demo this year,' Ron Eagle, senior manager of PR for Sony Computer Entertainment America told me. But he did say he's played 30 of the games 50 planned developer-made levels and that it's a lot of fun. He seemed genuinely pleased about his time with the game, but his company won't be showing more 'LBP' at least until next month. Eagle could only add that the full game is set for a 2008 release."

The Next Big Thing: LittleBigPlanet

The Portland - August 31, 2008

my first chance to play Sony's world creation game came earlier this morning -- and I think I'm in love. Without any hyperbole -- blame my lack of sleep -- this is the game that will allow the PlayStation 3 to catch up with the Xbox 360, if only in mindshare. Oh, and as a side note LBP has the greatest soundtrack of any game I've seen since Rock Band. Jim Noir in a videogame? Thanks Sony!

Media Molecule team members are currently on stage at CES, showing off the "play, create, share" title LittleBigPlanet to conventioneers and business types. The team just showed off a new pre-built level for the first time, one that introduces player death and respawn points to the DIY platformer. One of the new materials, under the "terribles" group, is a steaming hot magma rock, one that kills on contact.

GamesRadar Hands-On

GamesRadar - July 20, 2007

Like most people jonesing for a good reason to own a PS3, GamesRadar were impressed as hell by the promise of LittleBigPlanet. The achingly cute platformer/level-creation tool snagged our imaginations when it was unveiled during the Game Developers Conference in March, and during E3 it was almost fully playable. Enough to give them a good feel for what it'll be like to build your own semi-3D worlds and then jump around in them.
