ive got a feeling i may be going against you Just_Ben, would i be right?
as to why i am, its because i think that this title is a one week wonder where sales fall sharply after their first week success which was down to a small amount of hype and interest built up before release. less than amazing reviews arent there to keep interest high. the only thing i can think of thats inflating the stock atm is VG reporting 186k first week sales which i think is overestimated to begin with and that this game will drop off sharply.
lets hope im right :) come next week we shall know. i wouldnt be going against this person so much if the data wasnt only a week away from release, i only see a 20% or so return for me here as im expecting in the region of 300k sales but i figure with only a week to go its worth it.
Lucky for you this is not a GLS you are investing in. NPD will provide a number and you will either be right or wrong, no arguement about shipped versus sold also :-)
The next two months of NPD will provide some big gains or losses for some members here.
even if the 186k first week sales VG claims is true (and i cant state this enough, i HIGHLY doubt it is) i still dont think this will reach nearly 400k copies. i mean normally games take about a 50% dive from first week to second (rough guestimate here, obviously there are exceptions) that means its getting about 93k for second week putting it at 280k. now if the game has no serious lasting appeal, and i doubt it does, we are likely to see drops in the following two weeks so it is really scraping to reach the current price, and cant exceed it by far to earn a large profit. this is IF VG is accurate in 186k first week, and i think they have seriously overshot this. i cant see this game doing over 300k and even that would be a stretch imo.
You can do some April Fool's Day unwinding tomorrow with a demo for Army of Two hitting Xbox Live. According to producer Matt Turner, the demo will include the training area of the game as well as the first level. Turner also details some of the forthcoming DLC, saying, "1 new multiplayer map arriving as well as 2 new campaign maps in the not too distant future."
id bet on it just being optimism at launch, if i could i would probably short it as theres no reason to believe otherwise e.g. sales data / amazing reviews / shops sold out.
