With Chains of Olympus going Gold in Japan, we’re now officially done with PSP development.
So today we sent all our devkits back and seeing all these boxes ready to be picked up definitely marks the end of an era here at Ready At Dawn.
Can’t wait to show you guys what we have in store….
Look at those devkit. I count at least 9x3 devkit.
God of War: Chains of Olympus looks fantastic. Normally we'd toss in a "for a portable game" qualifier, but we really don't need to in this case. Chains of Olympus looks better than most PSP games, and easily hangs in the looks department with the best PlayStation 2 games. The graphics are even more impressive because Ready at Dawn built the game specifically for the PSP.
thats good to hear since the idea of "psp exclusives" seems almost like a joke with high profile games like syphon filter and ratchet and clank going ps2 port soon after the psp "exclusive"
"Moving forward, we can confirm that Chains of Olympus will be our last PSP game as we’re moving on to other projects and other ideas on other consoles. We can also confirm that this will be our first and last God of War game as, just like Daxter before it, there will NOT be a PS2 port of the game. We like our games PSP exclusives :)"
The Good : - Outstanding technical and artistic visuals. - Combat is intense and gory. - Soundtrack fits the game perfectly............
The Bad : - Very, very little in the way of new gameplay elements. - Can easily be beaten in less than seven hours. - Could have used more puzzles, platforming segments, and bosses.
"For example, a temple level that takes place later on in the game, the team aimed “give a small tease of the temple in the background” in earlier levels, showing just glimpses without a full reveal. That way, Phail-Liff suggested, the player will be aware of the significance of the place by the time he or she arrives."
God of War: Chains of Olympus director Ru Weerasuriya talks about the successes and failures of the game's development, the direction the title almost took, and ramping up for new IP development.
