Flagship Studios has announced that its PC online game Hellgate: London will receive its first content update on January 21st, 2008, expanding the game's world beyond London to the areas surrounding Stonehenge...
"Players head to Stonehenge on Monday for first Hellgate romp outside London." Hopefully this update will address most of the issues they've been having.
Like Diablo, Hellgate: London is multiplayer and contains unique items. Except now it’s a first person shooter, takes place in a near future London instead of a dungeon, and has much higher system requirements. It also has unique dungeon areas, and a plethora of extra customization options for your weapons and a form of crafting that lets you augment items.
It seems that the Koreans are quite in love with Hellgate: London. The game was given an average user rating of 89.2 points - that's a very decent store given that StarCraft is the national sport there.
The survey was carried out to over 250,000 Hellgate: London closed beta gamers in Korea of which 25,404 of them responded. The average age of the participants was 29.5 and not surprisingly, 90.7 of them was male.
Greetings everyone!
We’ve spent the last week or so reading the forums, talking with our players, and working our way through the top issues with the game as quickly as possible. This patch has not only a good number of bug fixes, but also some new features that you’ve been asking for.
All in all, we can all agree that Hellgate: London was expected to be more. As a beta tester there was constant arguing and bickering about the expectations of the game. There will always be people to defend this game to death, but for all I know, it's not the revolutionary gameplay I was promised, nor was it the antidote to the WoW epidemic I hoped it be.
Kali's Opinon: This game resembles a gameplay like the Diablo series in which players can only communicate in towns then go off and basically half the time solo. As for the MMO aspect, I would say not much retail sales. Under 500k copies.
@feelmyring, perhaps they can fix things later, but first impressions of a released game are very important. When consumers looking to buy the game months from now, the bugs may be fixed, but they will still see these terrible reviews. Nobody re-reviews games.
@Gaara42, You don't think it's a little soon to see if they can pull out of their tail spin? The game has barely been out for two weeks, and there's a patch coming out shortly that might fix some issues.
