Rumor : Square Enix Japan To Cut 200 to 300 Jobs

Kotaku - September 28, 2009

Submitted by mrahaju (12) at 9:39AM PST on September 29, 2009

The company behind the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, Square Enix, is rumored to be trimming down its workforce. Apparently, somewhere between 200 and 300 Square Enix Japan employees will lose their jobs. If true, this could simply be a corporate reorganization after the acquisition of Eidos Interactive, which is schedule to be renamed Square Enix Europe. Taito is also under the Square Enix Japan umbrellas, so these rumored lay-offs could also be Taito-related.

Revenue over that time is up 140 percent, not as much as unit sales due to the lower prices, but still an impressive leap.
