Epic Games has confirmed that the replica Lancer gun from Gears of War, which was prematurely revealed at the end of last week, is official and has been selling like "hot cakes".
The 36-inch plastic weapon shakes and growls when you slot three C batteries (the chunky cylindrical ones) in its chamber. Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski poses with the replica on Amazon, maybe in an attempt to distract from the USD 139.99 (GBP 70) asking price.
Cliff Bleszinski presented Gears of War 2 to Comic-Con attendees today. During his presentation was the announcement that Gears of War 2 would feature "linked Achievements." In short, goals reached in the original Gears of War will carry over to the sequel, giving the player bonuses. Cliff listed three examples of how linked Achievements will work.
Includes: Beneath the Surface: a 48-page hardbound book including character profiles, exclusive concept art, & foreword by Cliff Bleszinski. Bonus DVD including exclusive making-of-the-game video footage, design galleries with audio commentary by Epic Games, & promotional videos including the E3 2008 trailer, “Rendezvous”. A Dominic and Maria Keepsake Photo. A Exclusive Xbox LIVE code to unlock a gold-plated Lancer Assault Rifle for online play. All in a Steel book DVD case.
Just as promised, Microsoft unleashed a fourteen ton truckload of new Gears of War 2 assets, including both campaign and multiplayer screenshots as well as character, weapon and environment concept art.
Rumor: Voice of 'Cole Train' suggests November 16 release for Gears of War 2
Mr. Rasta, who voiced Gears of War's "Cole Train", recently made an appearance at the TriForce panel at Wizard World to shoot the breeze about the company's line of GoW-related replicas. When asked about the sequel's release date, the TriForce crew remained tight lipped, though Rasta suggested asking him again on November 16.
@apujanata, I think 5-6m is a really good prediction for this game. On topic: 10m? It seems many people will be very disappointed with GeoW 2 sales at the end of the year.
@Heloise10, I don't know if I agree with your 5-6 M figure, but I know that I sure don't agree with 10 M copies of GoW 2 in 10 weeks. In fact, I have difficulty imagining 10 M Lifetime sales Worldwide. :P
@Jonman, Why not taking back this stock were it belongs in a common effort (5-6M?)? (yes I'm trying to influence the market;) I'd like our prediction to be realistic). Ok I start.
