I know it's been in the top 40 Wii games a couple of times in the UK but beyond that I've stayed well away from it seeing as it lost me a few million :) I'm still long as I only managed to reduce my position 25%.
@Just_Ben, It is doing that bad huh ? When (on which date) did you check Amazon Wii Top 100 ? Today ?
Well, Bloom Blox has 60K sales on NPD May, and Bully have 37K sales on NPD March. On March 21, Bully Wii barely get into Amazon Wii (#96), and on April 3, it didn't show up at all on Amazon Wii.
For BotB to justify the current GLS, It had to do worse than Dragon Quest Swords Wii, and I have difficulty believing that (since DQS GLS is 300K for sales outside Japan, and BotB is currently only 160K, not even half of DQS).
I don't know. The title is unable to hit the top 100 for the Wii on Amazon.com. Granted, you can extrapolate amazon to 100% off the market, but hell even bully is able to hit in there. So is Bloom Blox.
This post from a person that have NPD figure (not leaked) for PSP games : Based on the titles I have hard numbers for, the site is reporting sales volumes of only ~38% to ~50% of their actual volumes which is quite a large underestimation.
give me foundation/base to think that this stock are very undervalued.
@deftangel, the VGC data analysis article has given me courage/reason to think that VGC could be very wrong in this one, just like they were wrong on Iron Man PS2, Brash's Alvin & The Chipmunks, Ben 10, just to name some of the games in which VGC under-estimate their sales significantly (100% or more).
I hope some non-gaming sources (like Variety for Alvin & the Chipmunks) can shed # for BotB so I and you can get a lot of profit.
I was heavily long on this stock as I saw it as a decent gamble. Unfortunately, it's release has been less than inspiring. It only popped up at #27 on the UK charts this week despite being released the week prior and a budget price. I've no idea how it's doing in other territories ( I rarely pay attention to VGChartz figures for this type of thing) but I'm minded to assume, not very well.
It's possible this game will sell in it's dribs and drabs for a long time, especially as it's cheap and retailers might even start throwing it in as a value add with console bundles to shift stock but that's supposition only and I can't see any worthwhile data coming to light which will affect it's market price.
I hadn't had a major setback since I started playing so I guess I was due one :-)
Currently, the only games which has lower GLS than this game (current price is 19.25) is : Geometry Wars: Galaxies, at 16.4 price and Manhunt 2 at 23.8 price.
Comparison with GLS of other Music game prices : Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, 303 (BotB is only 7% of GH3) Rock Band Wii, 250 (BotB is only 8% of RB)
Comparison with GLS of other very low first month game prices : WipeOut Pulse PSP : 24.28 DKP (first month of 1 DKP) Dragon Quest Swords : 75.98 DKP (first month of 1.5 DKP) (have almost 50K DKP sales from Japan, which bring US+Europe sales of 25.98 DKP)
Are we really expecting worse than WipeOut Pulse PSP and worse than DQS fate for this stock ?
From an interview article with Battle of Bands developer, some of the interesting tidbits : - Battle of the Bands was originally pitched by Ian Slutz, who became senior designer on the title. The original idea was marching bands of robots fighting each other, and it eventually morphed into bands of various musical styles fighting each other musically. - Battle of the Bands is a fun (and ridiculous) party game, so we focused our attention on quick “get in and get out” features. - One of the great things about the Wii is that, as a platform, it’s an ambassador to people who don’t usually play games.
Likewise. It's a hits driven business and not every game is going to do well. It could go either way. Hopefully there will be sufficient data post release to draw some conclusions, particulary regarding the performance of third-party titles on the Wii which is still a total minefield for most publishers. It's a big opportunity for some of the mid-sized ones if they can crack it.
