So what are the thoughts on August 2007 total software sales? I think total sales of Madden were actually flat year-over-year. However, BioShock and Metroid probably added substantially to growth. Catalogue sales this August are also probably higher y-o-y because last year the Xbox and GameCube were in serious decline and the Wii and the PS3 were not around.
Wasn't it the "childish behavior" of the community the reason you said you were "quitting?" Why are you contributing to the nth degree?
OK so you were upset about Project HAMMER. They recognized this was an issue. Yes, it took some time to figure out a solution. The admins offered a solution to refund and opened a forum for us to discuss. The community said they didn't want a refund, they wanted a cash out. So the admins did what we wanted, and established a policy for future delayed futures and cancelled stocks. Strangelhold was delayed, refund happened, problem solved.
I don't know why you are so angry at the admins, less than a month ago you were saying how they deserved medals: "Additionally, he's extremelly open to criticism, and frequently implements changes requested by the community. The guy deserves a medal." I guess a lot happened that got you upset in the period you "quit." I assume they didn't ban you as they recognized your complaint and decided to respond to you and Barfo. That just shows how they are open to criticism, they don't just ban people they don't like to shut them up.
They've obviously been doing a lot recently to fix the problems. Yes there are still problems. Yes it's a new concept and yes it's a beta. I am sure they are fixing problems as fast as they can.
There is a problem with the large number of stocks listed on the simExchange, they are fixing it with delistings. Is this a perfect solution? No but its to fix a bigger problem.
There was a problem with the IPO prices, so they came up with a system to determine the prices, it had some hiccups for a week or so, public outcry, they quickly made it work so prices could be determined without noobies getting cheated.
There is a problem with a lot of players feeling too intimidated to post comments, they now open a forum to discuss this issue.
Just chill out and post your problems in the forum or send them an email. There's no need to make a big dramatic "I'm quitting" email then plot silly "shenanigans" that don't help anyone. A lot of us did like your original exit message as it got 13 bids, but I thought you were trying to help. It's unfortunate you decided to exit on a bad note.
I think Barfo was more reffering to when you guys took a very hands on approach at artificially breaking the wall. On that day, both Barfo and I scoured to see who broke the wall. There were a few buyers that seemed legit, but there was around 10 million profit we couldn't locate. Only someone in the top 10 could have pulled off something like that, and the daily gain for anyone was nowhere near that level.
I think that soured us both when we realized this economy doesn't care much about being a true economy, and is more concerned about protecting people's feelings. Neither of us responded when you emailed us both, because we knew you had already made up your mind, as you were only considering the two options you mentioned.
The impetus behing this was to basically give our NW away, or just get banned. We were almost sure we'd get one or the other, and both satisfy the goal. It's hard to stay out of a game you have a major share of. So I was hoping to just eliminate it altogether. Alas, again you had to be the awesome mod you are KultOfCows and do neither.
Was it childish? Absolutely. But we see so many holes in the system that we've talked about openly many times, that we figured we'd exploit one of them while we go out.
It is not against the rules to "hold the stock at the price we thought it should be at" by placing many sell orders. We took a very hands-off approach by allowing players to freely trade the stock as they had thought it was valued. As a I recall, there was a lot of discussion about how players believed Project HAMMER was artificially held down at 2 DKP and players said they would buy through this eventually. It appears that players took the trading of Project HAMMER into some kind of battle of ideas rather than normal trading. In retrospect, we took too much of a hands-off approach. However, this is all in the past and we have tried to learn from this incident.
We ended up cashing out Project HAMMER based on all the trading since the stock began a price determination period. We allowed the community to discuss this solution verses a refund. In the end, it appeared the cash out was the solution the community was most happy with.
I emailed you personally requesting your feedback but have not heard anything. Your actions certainly speak loudly, but we have always been open to listening to your feedback. I am sorry that you and SERAPHrowen felt it was necessary to stage something to get our attention. We are always available via email and try to get back to you within 24 hours.
We have rolled back the trades and do welcome you back to the community. In the future, please let us know when you are upset about something because we do not have telepathy. We only know of problems when you report them. This is a real beta. We do require your feedback to make a better product. Thanks.
Because acting like a little kid having a tantrum doesn't accomplish anything?
Seriously, everyone should just move on from the Project HAMMER BS (however you feel about it) and stop dwelling. It's a beta site that's working on a new concept...there are bound to be growing pains and some of them might annoy you. Let's be adult about this.
because the admins dont play fair and cleared the wall bids on HAMMER while trying to be sly about it without tellign anybody and then froze the stock the next week. If they cant even be above board about the moves they make and why (where exactly did it break any rules to hold the stock at the price we thought it shoudl be at figuring eventualyl it would need to be closed out at zero?), why should we respect the game at all?
Nothing like being up a trillion for the day. I'd say this is definitely a glitch, You could put your house on this being reversed. It's nice to see that figure on my net worth though. :D
