First two weeks after Manhunt (PS2) was released it had an average of 74.4% review scores. I think that this will do marginally better (in the 77-78 range) but will be held down by some sites giving it abnormally low review scores.
@Joe80, In the past year I've been in a handful of different retailers, specifically Gamestop, EB Games (they're still separate around me), Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Circuit City. When I see purchases of Wiis, it's most often a parent with children in tow. It's not a dedicated monitoring pattern I'm doing, more just observing. As for numbers, I'd say I've probably witnessed 30 Wii purchases, with a clear majority being purchased by parents, for children.
@Laoldar, I'm 26 (so are most of my friends who own Wiis) and I own a Wii, and I have no intention of buying this title on Wii or PS2. That was my point, is that the cross-sections of people who will buy this game is fantastically small.
I own a Wii and I'm 25. Many of my friends of similar age have one as well. I think the Wii has remarkable range because I know people who would have never touched a console before (such as teenage girls I worked with) line up to buy one. But there is a decent young male demo for the Wii. I doubt that Manhunt has a large appeal for ANY group however. It's just a fringe title.
@Just_Ben, That has not been my experience. Every time I've seen a Wii being bought, it's is by a parent, for a child. This is in Chicago. Are you speaking to what you've seen in America? Because for the purposes of this conversation, that's all that matters.
Most of the buyers of the Wii are still parents buying for children. I beg a pardon? If anything the Wii is a console has a large user group of people 25+.
