Its about time they got around to getting this game out. They have been waiting far to long, but i guess that all the extra testing would make game all that much better. I heard that the game was going to be awsome once it came out, but i never actually looked into what its about. If its anything like the sims i think it will work out quite well. And the evolutionary idea mixes well :)
Will Wright said during an interview with the BBC's Radio 5 Live yesterday. According to Wright, the game is fully playable from start to finish at this point, and has entered final testing.
"We've had to do a lot of testing to make sure that the game is accessible by a wide group of people", Wright went on to explain."I want the people who have played The Sims to be able to play Spore - I don't want it to be some thing just hardcore gamers play."
I would bet on it being a placeholder date put there by a retailer. Especially when the game is highly anticipated (and repeatedly delayed), retailer dates are usually suspect and exist so that they can get consumers to pre-order through them. I won't trust a date until EA or Wright himself says something.
Maxis has revealed at Games Convention 2007 in Leipzig that it may decide to develop a console version of Spore in the future. No one knows if it will be on either the PS3, Xbox 360 or Wii but it's currently scheduled to be released on the DS and PC in 2008.
EA has announced that Spore will be playable for the journalist at Leipzig this year. The game is 7 years in the making and currently is scheduled for a late 2008 release.
Electronic Arts reaffirmed that it will be releasing Will Wright's Spore sometime in the early fiscal 2009 timeframe, but added that the game won't release before it's absolutely finished.
CEO John Riccitiello said [or perhaps bragged?] during a conference call Wednesday that both him and EA Games president Frank Gibeau are both playing Will Wright's hotly anticipated Spore and are "enjoying it a great deal."
