apace79, you may want to edit the date on this article to be correct. Thank you.
At the very end of the article it mentions about the fact that the creature creation part of the game will be released as a sort of demo for the core game, this will probably allow more people to try out the game and will probably help to draw in more people to buy the full game once released. Good news for the sales of this game.
IGN has an interview with the Spore guys....IGN will be playing a demo...SPORE will be seen at Leipzig instead of E3...DS version is coming shortly after PC release...no creature cross pollination with DS/PC.
I think this game will be revolutionary in how we see strategy/creator games. If the controls and design run smoothly, it, in my opinion, could set the bar for a new generation of games.
According to an EA rep who spoke with Next-Gen, Spore hasn't actually been pushed back again, despite that quote in Game Informer that it had been "delayed indefinitely".
Fiscal 09 means part way through 08? who the heck cares? Do you think someone wants to tie up their DKP for another year?
Personally i couldnt stand having my DKP tied up for year.
You can really tell that this stock is over-hyped because it is valued more now than it was before the negative rumors circulated. It is a backlash where people thought they could make some money because it was on the rise. Now those people will want to get out before it drops and will sell.
Vaporware is a software or hardware product which is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge, either with or without a protracted development cycle. The term implies unwarranted optimism, or sometimes even deception; that is, it may imply that the announcer knows that product development is in too early a stage to support responsible statements about its completion date, feature set, or even feasibility.
By calling it vaporware, I do not say it will not be released, or will follow the same story as Duke Nukem. Doom 3 was vaporware for many years, as was Half Life 2, and both eventually was released.
The reason I called it vaporware, for all those who like to down bid on negative news, is because Spore's development began in 2000, was announced and demonstrated in 2005, and it was pushed back to 2008. Now, we can expect it in Fiscal year 2009, if everything gets back on track. Which, I really dont expect it then either.
The game will be released, I know that. But it has earned the vaporware title.
